VIDEO: Thousands Tour New Silver Cross Hospital
The public got its first chance to tour the new Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Nearly 10,000 people came and many were impressed by what they saw.
A hospital is always busy, and Feb. 12 was no different as thousands of people came to the new Silver Cross Hospital campus in New Lenox for the first public tours offered.
The hospital, which officially opens Feb. 26, had to cut off the registration for tours after getting well over 6,000. With walk-ins, the hospital played host to nearly 10,000 people. Tours ran from about 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. with the help of at least 100 staff members.
Visitors were provided with entertainment and refreshments in a tent outside the hospital before going through the six-floor, 553,000-square-foot building.

Welcome to New Lenox, Silver Cross Hospital. I was fortunate to be able to take the tour today, such a beautiful hospital. Very lucky to have such a state-of-the-art facility right in our own backyard!!

Beautiful building, friendly staff.
If I have to be in the hospital, this is where I want to be.
