Party Invite Turns Into Fight Near Pit Stop
Men from New Lenox and Matteson were charged with aggravated battery after making a comment about a man's girlfriend and then fighting him, police said.
Two men were arrested and charged with aggravated battery after an early morning fight Monday in the 100 block of East Route 30, near the Pit Stop bar.
Joseph Strimel, 21, of the 800 block of Stonegate Road, in New Lenox, and 22-year-old Daniel Peterson, of Matteson, were charged after New Lenox Police were called about a fight.
According to the police report, two men and a woman were walking in the area at about 12:25 a.m. when Strimel and Peterson approached and asked them if they wanted to go to a party.
When the walkers refused, police noted, Strimel allegedly said something about the woman. A fight ensued between her boyfriend and Strimel and Peterson, police said.
The two men then fled the scene, but police were able to track them down. Both Strimel and Peterson were taken to Will County Jail. Strimel's bail was set at $4,000, and Peterson's was set at $3,000.
