Tinley Park Woman in Court For Allegedly Running Over Live-in Lover

The case against a Tinley Park woman charged with driving over her boyfriend will be back in court again next month.

Some women walk all over men. Christine Meyers allegedly drove over one.

Meyers, 23, appeared in court for a brief hearing Thursday morning and was scheduled to return Feb. 28.

The Tinley Park woman was arrested in December after an argument with her live-in boyfriend ended with her running him over with her car, police said.

Meyers was charged with aggravated domestic battery in connection with the incident that allegedly left her 21-year-old boyfriend with severe burns to his chest, back and scrotum. The scrotum burns reportedly required surgery.

Despite the grievous injuries supposedly suffered under Meyers' tires, the boyfriend reportedly at first told police someone else ran him over while he was crossing the street.

According to a police report, the boyfriend had been drinking at JW Hollstein's Saloon for five hours or so and then decided to walk alone to the home he shared with Meyers on Ridgeland Avenue. Along the way, the report said, a light-colored vehicle ran the stop sign at 175th Street and Ridgeland and hit him.

The boyfriend claimed he rolled across the vehicle's hood and after he hit the ground, the vehicle ran him over, the report said. The man's legs then were caught under the vehicle and he was dragged along 175th Street until he broke free by rolling side to side, according to the report.

The man told police he "ran" home to tell Meyers what happened. Meyers' mother then dropped him off at the emergency room at St. James Hospital and Health Center in Olympia Fields, the report said.

Hi there, Johnny.

We have updated the story every step of the way, with the information that becomes available from police and court happenings. Is there something, specifically, you're questioning? Obviously if there's something we can clarify, we have no problem doing so. However, the details of the case have been trickling in, and we include the information as it becomes available to us.

Is there something specific I can answer for you?

OMG Johnny I agree, sad that is is so inconsistant and the first paragraph is a blow to women. Some women walk all over men. Christine Meyers allegedly drove over one. Really, you think there is anything funny about that?

Keep in mind the boyfriend was in a bar for five hours and I can bet he was not drinking Pepsi. It is clearly the story that the intoxicated man told the police: "supposedly suffered under Meyers' tires, the boyfriend reportedly at first told police someone else ran him over while he was crossing the street." Key words are *supposedly* and *reportedly*. "According to a police report." The police report is verbatim what the suspect tells them. Wow he must really love her to lie like that to protect her.

Hi, Hendrick.

We have reported on this from the beginning, and we have included all information as it becomes available to us. The details have been confusing and the case itself has developed over time.

We update the story with the most recent court news and information. Is there something, specifically, you'd like to see more of? We welcome feedback.

I have to wonder if they are still together. And I find it hard to believe after 5 hours at a bar and after all that trauma how is it even possible to RUN home to mama??? Something isn't right.

What I mean is the first report was stated they were at her house, then I read he was dragged down the street,, over the hood, under the car, now it continues that she blew a stopsign and hit him and ran him over with her tires...HE told them he didn't know who hit him when in the first police reports he claims he laid in front if her car at ther house...I just like to follow local news and get frustrated when people just print something they "copy" from another bad source...I will never judge another person I read about again because obviously there is more to their story too...

Hi, Johnny.

We have never "copied" anything—we have updated the story based on police reports and court appearances. Any changes in the details are based on what we have learned from police reports and details revealed in court.

I appreciate your passion for local news—that's something we have in common. I assure you that any information we include in updates is obtained through our own reporting. If the story seems confusing, it's probably because the details have been foggy, those involved have been unclear and varied their own reports over time.

We're doing our best and will continue to bring you updates, straight from the courts.

Lauren

I agree Johnny, why is it the story keeps changing I wonder. Here he didn't even remember much of anything and didn't even want to press charges. My opinion this case should just be dropped. It just seems to me that if he can't remember and there was indeed drinking until that hour of the morning why is any money being wasted. They did a dumb and stupid thing but maybe they learned a little lesson?

Lauren I agree with your statement "the story seems confusing, it's probably because the details have been foggy, those involved have been unclear and varied their own reports over time." The case should just be dropped and as I said 2 kids under probably a lot of alcohol who can't remember anything. Drop the case.

Seriously with what was described in todays post how could this young man even "RUN" home.

Not surprised. Nothing says "I love you" to white trash more than running you over with a car.
