Proud American Days Moved This Year to Town Center
Construction of the new police station is forcing a move away from the traditional spot.
New Lenox's Proud American Days Festival, held annually in the summer, will be moved this year to Town Center in the 500 block of E. Route 30.
Because construction of the new $9.5 million police station on Veterans Parkway is scheduled to be underway at that time, the four-day summertime celebration was forced out.
The New Lenox Park Community Park District is planning to move the July 25-28 celebration to the development site for the planned Menards store. Walmart officials have agreed to accommodate overflow parking,
"Also through the cooperation of John McVicker’s Development, additional parking will be available at the out lots along Route 30," according to park district officials.
