On Memorial Day weekend in New Lenox, the American Legion post paid tribute to those who have sacrificed themselves for their country. A car show and lots more fun brought hundreds to the post.

Tuskagee Airman Virgil Poole Sr., of Glenwood; Eugene LaFleur, of Lansing; and Rob Schoon, of Orland Park, were veterans honored at the American Legion.

During last year's Memorial Day weekend in New Lenox, the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall brought thousands of people to the American Legion Post 1977.

This year the crowds turned out for a car show and lots more fun to benefit disabled veterans.

A memorial cruise parade left Frankfort's VFW Post on Sunday morning and traveled to the New Lenox American Legion, were the festivities lasted until 5 p.m. It included a car show, Elvis impersonator and food and games.

The money from the event will go toward the Lincoln-Way Area Disabled Veterans Memorial Fund.
