Outlet Mall Development Negotiating 60+ Tenant Leases

Developer Jeff Middlebrook said there's lots of interest in the Spring Creek Outlets, which recently partnered with Urban Retail Properties on the $225 million project.

A new team formed last week to construct and manage the 550,000-square-foot property on the northwest end of New Lenox that will be a future home to an outlet mall.

Center Creek Development announced a new partnership last week with Urban Retail Properties and Mansur & Company to build, lease and manage the $225 million project, which could break ground in spring 2012.

The developers also sent their first lease agreements to potetntial tenants last week, shortly following the new partnership, Center Creek developer Jeff Middlebrook said.

Spring Creek Outlets would be at the northwest corner across from Silver Cross Hospital's replacement campus. The outlet mall is the main component of a mixed-used development proposed by Center Creek Development that could also include hotels, senior housing and restaurants.

Middlebrook wouldn't name any potential tenants in the outlet mall, but said five lease agreements have been prepared and the developers are negotiating with more than 60.

"We've had a lot of interest," Middlebrook said.

My understanding is that there was going to be an outlet mall constructed that's similar in size to Gurnee Mills and another, smaller mall, similar to the Bolingbrook promenade. Where are these two malls set to be constructed and what are the latest construction dates?

Hey Chad, the outlet mall hopes to break ground in spring 2012 and possibly open the first phase that fall. As for the other mall, which would be on the south side of Route 6 next to the hospital, the most recent update I've been told is that they're doing some roadwork in that area but don't really have an idea when that construction will happen. Thank you for reading and check back for updates!
