The New Lenox School District 122 Foundation has secured a plethora of unique items for a silent auction at the 7-10 p.m. Sept. 8 dinner at the American Legion Hall in New Lenox.

Nancy Dye, village trustee and NLSD122 Foundation officer, said the first-annual foundation dinner is expected to raise funds for a teacher grant program for the 2013-2014 school year. The  theme for the grants is called "Launching the Stars of Tomorrow into the 21st Century."

The purpose of the grant program is to encourage inspired teachers to both create and research pertient curriculum opportunities for the subject they teach.

Dye is particularly pleased with the reception the foundation has received, since it was formed. The business community and individual donors have been very generous, she said.

Among the items available at the silent auction are: a Pandora bracelet, a Kindle Touch and 15 wine tasting tickets.
