New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann was hired last week as the superintendent of Union School District 81, which serves a little more than 100 students from New Lenox and Joliet.

Tim Baldermann, the mayor of New Lenox, was hired last week as superintendent of the Union School District 81, which serves children from Joliet and New Lenox. The district only has one school and a little more than 100 students. Baldermann's contract is three years and will pay $127,000 annually.

"My goal was always to get into education after I retired as police chief," said Baldermann, who doesn't have a background in education but has his superintendent's certification.
