The fate of the House of Hughes restaurant was decided in September 2011, when the business auctioned off everything inside. Since then, it's sat empty.
Located at 201 E. Maple St., it's in a nice spot right next to the Metra lot location, a place commuters could grab a drink after work or meet their families for dinner.
So what would you like to see in its place?
House of Hughes' sister location in Crestwood closed in March 2011, leaving the New Lenox restaurant's future in limbo. Until closing, the restaurant operated under the name "The Station House," but ownership wouldn't say whether they had any potential buyers.
What should go here? Tell us in the comments.

Hard to say. That building is pretty dated and doesn't lend to getting a chain restaurant in there -which is the only thing that I think might have a chance. I think whatever ends up there has a better chance if they totally update the building. They may even need to knock it down and start fresh.

I agree. Knock it down and clean up that whole area. A coffee shop/bakery would be nice for the commuters.

I agree with the chain restaurant and knocking down the building. The problem is New Lenox really does not like to pay for good food so it would need to be a cheap chain restaurant like Denny's or IHOP.

Something that could also cater to the train crowd would be nice. When it was Bruns & George Michaels, they would get nice commuter traffic in there on friday evenings after work.

I agree, but I think TJ's would be a better spot for one. As mentioned by some, this spot needs to cater to the train traffic -though there's nothing that says folks won't stop for a pint before heading home at night so who knows ;-)

What about a coffeeshop? Something nice, not a Starbucks. More like Extreme Bean in Homewood. Somewhere you could get a sandwich for lunch and see poetry readings or someone playing acoustic guitar in the evening.

Maybe a Krispy Kreme Donuts would be successful there. It would be convenient for commuters to take donuts to work.

A coffee shop/bakery is a great idea. I've been saying for years that this town needs a good bakery (Like Weber's Bakery in Chicago) or Fine Thai Cuisine restaurant.
