Growing up in Gaylord, Michigan, with a population of about 4,000 people, Nathan Foley got an appreciation for helping neighbors.

That led him into the field of physical medicine, and he opened his own practice in New Lenox last year at 1215 N. Cedar Road.

He said he loves the small-town feel here, especially among the business community, which has helped spread the word. He also said he enjoys the Village Commons area and the nearby forest preserves.

"I wanted the small town feel," he said. "The people are generally more friendly because they might actually bump into each other in town."

Foley, 28, graduated last April from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard and lived in Palos Heights for some time while going to school. He moved to New Lenox a couple years ago, and although it's still a lot bigger than his hometown, he sees a similar willingness to help others.

"It's very rewarding," he said. "That's just the mentality back home, growing up with that kind of mindset. Working with my hands is also a big positive for me."

His services include chiropractic medicine, physical rehabilitation, nutritional counseling and more.

"Basically, if it hurts, you can come in for treatment," he said. "I don't just try to treat the pain, but also look for the source of dysfunction."

He's also the only employee, so the one-on-one interaction is another benefit of his business, Foley said.
