Live Blog Captures Election Day 2012 With Words and Images

South suburban Patch editors published updates and photos from their communities throughout the day Tuesday. Read the transcript to see what went down at polling precincts across the Southland.

Editor's Note: The following is the live blog that ran Tuesday, Nov. 6. You can read the transcript for a look at the updates and photos from Patch editors.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Patch will be live-blogging what's happening as voters cast their ballots in the south suburbs, from precincts to parties.

At Patch, Election Day isn't just about waiting for results to roll in. Your local editors will be updating this blog throughout the day, posting photos and stories from Southland polling places. Of course, when the polls close at 7 p.m., editors will be monitoring the vote tallies for all the races that matter most to you.

The live-blog is also where you can share your thoughts and experiences on Election Day. Tell us what voter turnout is like at your precinct. Ask your local Patch editor a question about a particular race. You can even upload a photo of your I Voted sticker. In fact, we encourage it.

Check with your local Patch site's 2012 Election Guide before you vote. Then come back to keep track of the races and issues that matter to you.

Might have been nice to start your list of "south suburban" election guides with an actual suburb, such as Alsip, rather than two Chicago neighborhoods. :-)

Hi, Karen.

Thanks for the comment! We actually do not have a Patch in Alsip. The Patches that we have are listed here, in alphabetical order.

Thanks!
Lauren

I think Lauren meant to include this: www.patch.com

If you click on Illinois, you'll see at the Patches in state.

Thanks, Ryan! I was referring to the list of south suburban sites included with this post, but always great to let folks know where all the Patches are located!

Surprisingly the pollsters outside the Orland Sportsplex were few in numbers. In years past there have been 10-20 out there hawking their pamplets. Only one lady offered me info, the other few stayed away. I must have the look that i was planning to decide the election all by myself. I'll be watching here tonite! Go Patch!!

Wow that's weird, Rob. I've always seen a huge mob scene outside the Sportsplex, even during the primary. In March, more people were outside than inside! And that's funny about "the look." I always put my "I Voted" sticker on my notebook and show it to them like a badge. Usually does the trick.

Yes the Sportsplex Zombies I use to call them. Every election, I stop at the Sportsplex to workout and explain to them 1) I already voted and 2) I don't vote at the Sportsplex but they don't care. They keep wanting to tell me who to vote for. This year at my polling place there was no one. It was really nice.

The best part about this will be no more mailers or political signs. I am so sick of seeing them everywhere. I hope the villages charges the candidates for taking them out of the parkways. I do not want my Tinley tax dollars paying to remove signs. If I see one more Hastings sign I'm going to throw up. Does his family own a printing company?Every Friday night hundreds of these things go up all over Tinley.

Any truth that this will be Patch's last major election coverage. I see on Google many reports that 2013 will be the last year for Patch if they continue to start losing money. Hope this doesn't happen. I just didn't know the Patch sites were losing so much money. I guess there is too much overhead. Hope you guys can all pull through.

Aw, thanks, "Govemployee." We plan to be here for the spring municipal elections in 2013 and beyond. If the folks who blogged on "the media" actually talked to people in our towns, you'd hear a much different story. Damn that left-wing, anti-business press. ; - )

Voters decided that a sexist, liar and cheater would not make a good leader. I believe God had a hand in voters' decision. Thank God!
