Its nice to know about the incident but a description would help everyone feel safer. Now we dont have a clue what or who to look out for.

Both statements are FALSE. When you make statements in absolutes, you are just plain ignorant. My dad died at 70. Lots of people at 70 have health issues, so you cannot universally say that 70 is the new 50. As for having a gun in her purse, really?!? Even if she was like a 50 year old, whatever that means, do you think 3 young men would not try to take her gun and turn it on her?? The article clearly states that they had a gun (probably multiple). You make it sound as if they didn't have a gun. Even if they didn't have a gun, you're still nuts to think that she would have been fine if the she had one. Eleanor, you are right, a gun doesn't help in every situation nor does anything else. She is probably a very kind and trusting soul and was taken advantage of. Situational awareness is the key to avoiding many problems.

When someone is asking for a description, it usually means they want to know what the suspects look like. This crime taking place down the street from my home, I personally would like to know what I need to be aware of, When you say black/white/purple it offends me. Journalism has a obligation to the community for which it writes and informs.. What I know now,, that I did not this morning was 3 black males pulled into a driveway in a gray/silver sedan. Kidnapped a woman and robbed her at gunpoint. My point being is now I can alert my kids, tell my neighbors and if we see any one matching that description to call the police. It's how a community works. It's not about being liberal or conservative, but about doing what is right.

The news NEVER tells you it was black males. That would be racist. I bet alot of you don't know about 300 people of color were on their way to a flash mob/ smash and grab at Chicago Ridge mall this weekend. Thanks for the info, Jim. I'd been considering taking a class for the last few years, but this incident sealed the deal.
