It’s Summer Reading Time! This year’s theme is Reading Is So Delicious!

In honor of this year’s theme, I read Dark Tort, by Diane Mott Davidson. Dark Tort is the 13th entry in the “Culinary Mystery Series.” The series features caterer and amateur sleuth Goldy Shultz, a superb cook and baking extraordinaire.

Goldy has found a new job preparing breakfast for a local law firm.  She enjoys the job until she stumbles over a dead body. Goldy soon discovers that the woman is her friend and neighbor Dusty Routt, a paralegal at the firm.

Later, while catering a party for one of the lawyers at the firm, Goldy overhears an incriminating conversation and gets to work to help solve the crime.

While trying to solve the mystery, Goldy talks about the food she prepares. So be prepared to have a snack nearby while you read. You’ll find all of the recipes she mentions in the novel in the back of the book, including Dark Tort.
