$1 Million Bail Set for New Lenox Teen Accused of Arson

Christian Velazquez, 17, faces aggravated arson, residential burglary and criminal damage to property charges.

A Will County judge has set bail at $1 million for a New Lenox teen accused of setting fire to a car and deck.

Christian Velazquez, 17, of the 700 block of Lake Road, is charged with aggravated arson, residential burglary and criminal damage to property, Sun-Times Media reports. If convicted, Velazquez faces six to 30 years in prison.

Velazquez set a deck on fire, burned a car and is responsible for multiple acts of burglary and vandalism, New Lenox police said.

He appeared in a Will County bond court on Monday.

Since we can't deport him, we should deport his parents.

Guess he won't be home tonight. Maybe the neighborhood will sleep better knowing he's in a cell.

Sure would be too bad if some of the things he did happened to his parents house.

Honestly there is no point talking about someone behind their back whens theyre already arrested. maybe if you all spent more time instilling values in your children instead of posting ridiculous comments on here acting like you know him, then there would be less children growing up like him

You two must be related to him?

I'm sure you would feel differently if it was your house or car they damaged.

And my guess is they have instilled those values in their children seeing as though we aren't reading about them.

Now this is how to send a message. 1mil bail. Hopefully he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and as a result will have thirty years to sit around and think about what he's done.

There could of been many death's & family's displaced with a fire from 1 house!
This child needs years of discipline, accountability & respect to others property!
Now about the $1 Mill. Bond, the Drunk cop in Chicago just killed 2 innocent people, he got Half Mill Bond, There seems to be a badge favor in bond $$ there! This boy needs real continued treatment.

He is a good kid that makes bad decisions. And his parents have nothing to do with it. Usually kids of this age are influenced by OTHER KIDS or drugs/alcohol. Its horrible what he did and Im not saying otherwise but maybe he needs a little bit more than 'lock him up and throw away the key.'

His parents have everything to do with it. They raised him and taught him right from wrong! Why do they not know where their son is the middle of the night and what he is up to? If he is hanging out with the wrong crowd it is up to his parents to steer him on the right path and forbid him from hanging out with the wrong crowd. Your job as a parent is never done.

And hes not a good kid dont lie to yourself he used to sell drugs and is also a heavy user. Go ahead and blame who you want but no one made him do what this idiot did. $1mill aint enough in my opinion. All this prick needs is a lot of jail time and when he gets out, loose but hole and all, he will probably end up back in prison for the same things.#realtalk#thetruth

I am horrified to see how the "good people" of my community are talking about another person - in print so everyone can see it - and many of you without even the courage to put your real name. These are horrible comments and I'm ashamed to think that these may have been written by my neighbors or even friends.

The lovely people of New Lenox coming together to gang up on a dumb kid, isn't that how it always is? You're right though, all the other New Lenox kids did a much better job by just dying from overdose. Then they didn't get a chance to do anything this stupid. Congratulations dead kids from New Lenox, you're a shining example for all the junkies in this town!
