The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is looking for volunteers for our Cadet and Officer programs.
Formed a week before Pearl Harbor in 1941 as the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, CAP is tasked by Congress to serve in three capacities. 1 - Emergency Services: CAP provides 95% of inland search and rescue missions and has the largest fleet of general aviation aircraft in the world and on September 11, 2001, CAP aircraft were the first above ground zero tasked with providing damage assessment to the USAF. 2 - Aerospace Education: Qualified CAP members and affiliated teachers teach aerospace education in schools and other educational settings across the country. 3 - Cadet Programs. The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program precedes even the Air Force JROTC program. The Cadet program prepares youth between the ages of 12 - 21 to lead in today's competitive environment. Former cadets can be found in all walks of life from the boardroom to the cockpits of the latest fighter jets and even aboard the International Space Station. Cadets who advance who achieve the rank of Cadet 1st Lieutenant or higher in the Cadet Program earn the rank of E-3 if they chose to enlist in the armed services.
Youth between the ages of 12-18 and adult officers 21+ can volunteer to serve your country and community in any of the exciting roles and programs that CAP has to offer. Remember that you DO NOT need to be a pilot to join and there is NO military obligation for our cadets or adult officers.
We are conveniently located in Lincoln Way East High School, room 193. Our meetings are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Please feel free to pay us a visit or contact me with any questions.
